BEWARE Instrument Chewing Xray Machines

BEWARE Instrument Chewing Xray Machines

Had an unfortunate expierence in Glasgow Airport at the weekend at the security check in.Placed all my stuff in a tray on the Xray conveyor. Instrument some how got trapped at the exit curtain and snapped in two.Luckily it was only a cheap practice chanter that I had bought as a present could easily have been something valuable.Security called a supervisor who claimed it wasnt possible that it had happened what a GOBS...e ! .
I lost the head with him and told him what to do with the chanter (ouch!).
Glad it wasnt expensive but beware if you have to put your instruments through these machines they can do a lot of damage.

Re: BEWARE Instrument Chewing Xray Machines

It was in a plastic case and placed in one of the trays they provide.I know it was a freak accident but I would be very careful with these machines in the future and make security check the instrument before letting it into the machine. It was really the attitude that p*ssed me off.

I would like to thank you for your feedback as this helps us improve our se
rvice to our customers.

With regard to your musical instrument, I have investigated this incident a
nd discovered the following. Our officers have stated that the instrument w
as encased in a rigid plastic box and was placed in the bottom of a standar
d black tray. Under these circumstances, we feel that it is unlikely that t
he instrument was broken inside our x-ray machine.
As to the conduct of our officers, I can only apologise if they seemed brus
que. I have spoken to them about their customer service and assure you that
your concerns are taken seriously.

I can only apologise again if your experience of Glasgow airport did not me
et your expectations and assure you that we are working hard to improve our
customers journey through our airport.

With regards,

P. Johnson
