Has anyone got this album yet?
I got it yesterday and I cant take to it at all.
Its nothing like Scahills solo album.
I find that its very choppy with nothing exciting and nothing I havent heard before. Not crazy about the backing on piano either.
Pity .... I really thought it would be much better and was expecting to hear Scahills usuall style come through.
Oh well ..... will just have to wait for John Carty, Matt Molloy and Arty McGlynns new one.
Anyone else go the album and what did you think? I am sure some will love it and I wont be the only dissapointed fan.
Give it to me if you don't like it. I heard some tracks on radio some weeks ago, and found them very exciting. I love the combination of banjo and melodeon and its old-fashioned feel. Once you find it attractive, it will be very addictive.
Not the up-tempo lively music I expected after the first album. I wont be buying it based on the 2 sound bites. Jesus - I nearly started waving hankies above my head!!!!!
Sound great to me--can't wait to get it. If you hated DeDanann's Star-Spangled Molly, you'll probably hate this too. Just from the clips, which may not be too reliable, it even sounds like Enda set up the banjo to be even tinnier than usual, probably to emulate that old Flanagan Bros. sound. Music for the truly enlightened, perhaps. Going by what they set out to do (listen to their interview on RTE's Late Session for the background), I'd say it sounds like a ROARING success!
I thought it would be much different. Not the usual accordion/banjo (or melodeon) combination I'm used to hearing. I'll probably not be buying it based on these two clips.
Heard some tracks on Radio na Gaeltachta at week-end and can't wait to get this CD. Lovely old time feel to it. Perhaps those who don't like it have travelled too far away from the roots of the music.

I'm not a great fan of the piano, but those clips are great stuff - As patrick cavanagh says, a Roaring success.
On my shopping list - this will be great for driving country roads.
