Does anybody have the lyric sheet for "Man From the Daily Mail". I bought a "collection" type CD of Irish Rebel songs. It lists it as being traditional, but I can't find any info on it. It's a great tune, but I can't understand all the words as the recording quality isn't the greatest. Does anyone know of this song? Have the lyrics/text for it?
G C G
Oh, Ireland is a very funny place, sir, it's a strange and troubled land
G C D7
Oh, the Irish are a very funny race, sir, every girl's in Cumann Na mBan
G C G
Every doggy has a tri-colored ribbon tied firmly to it's tail
C G D7 G
And I wouldn't be surprising if there'd be another rising said the man from the Daily Mail
Chorus
G C
Every bird, upon my word is singing treble, "I'm a rebel."
G D D7
Every hen and jay, they're laying hand grenades over there sir, I declare sir.
C G C D
And every cock in the farmyard stock is crowing for the Gael.
C G D G
And I wouldn't be surprising if there'd be another rising said the man from the Daily Mail
G C G
Oh, the other day I travelled down to Clare, sir, and I spied in an old boreen
G C D7
Such a bunch of Fenians there, sir, dressed in orange, white, and green
G C G
They were marching to the German goosestep and whistling "Granuaile"
C G D7 G
Oh, I'm shaking in me shoes as I'm sending out the news said the man from the Daily Mail
Chorus
G C G
Oh, the country is seething with sedition. It's Sinn Fein through and through
G C D7
All the people they are joining the the Provisionals and the password's "Sinn Fein", too.
G C G
The I.R.A. has sent me a time bomb in the mail
C G D7 G
So b'Jesus and begorrah, I'll be getting out tomorrow said the man from the Daily Mail
Chorus
G C G
Oh, Ireland is a very funny place, sir, it's a strange and troubled land
G C D7
Oh, the Irish are a very funny race, sir, every girl's in Cumann Na mBan
G C G
Every doggy has a tri-colored ribbon tied firmly to it's tail
C G D7 G
And I wouldn't be surprising if there'd be another rising said the man from the Daily Mail Chorus

Re: Man From the Daily Mail ... lyrics/text?
I've been trying to find out who wrote this. Every reference I've found on the web has it as 'unknown'.
Anyone know?
