RyanAir - Cheaper (sic) flights

RyanAir - Cheaper (sic) flights

My concertina was 1 cm too big without its case so I had to chance putting it in the hold.

Two of us arrived at East Midlands with one over-large (containing well-wrapped anglo) and one smaller case, one underweight, one overweight. I explained why it was overweight and the RyanAir check-in girl used discretion and said fair enough. I booked 7 months ago so nothing to pay.

Arrived at Shannon to fly back with exactly the same luggage. The European jobsworth-ette on the RyanAir checkin said I would have to pay for both cases so I quickly told her where to shove her French accent as I didn't have to pay. She then told me to take some luggage out of the heavier case but would'nt let me weigh the lighter case to work out what to swap. Her Sagess Normane (Norman Wisdom) was called into questioni again as I told her to N@ckers and weighed it anyway. She kept our passports and sent us off to repack.
My 3 colleagues got off less lightly and were made to pay for their overweight boxes.

Moral - RyanAir, please note these weight restrictions are your self-imposed, money-grabbing rules not the Dept of Transports'. If you do not use a bit of common-sense and discretion, you will lose money because I just won't bother flying with you when the restrictions are lifted (if ever).

Be Warned about flying DireAir.

Re: RyanAir - Cheaper (sic) flights

Thats what you get for playing the concertina! Imagine if you had to take a grand piano on tour with you!
I am buying me a mouth organ......let them weigh that!
I think they are the worst airline when it comes to musical instruments! I know 4 men and a dog refuse to fly with Ryanair.....this is probably why!

Re: RyanAir - Cheaper (sic) flights

Ah well, it's only a few quid so they can call the shots. Back then we had to hitch to Holyhead, about £20 ( 2 week's spending money or more) for a footpassenger over on the ferry (no weight restrictions though), walk about 5 miles to get to somewhere to start hitching, and with luck we'd be over in the West by evening from an overnight boat.

Re: RyanAir - Cheaper (sic) flights

People get what they deserve generally (not you Geoff in partic.) i.e. customers have been flocking to RyanAir for the cheap fairs ... so you hardly blame them for trying to cut every single corner they can to keep them cheap. Me ... I don't like the head honcho, he's such an arrogant b****!!!, so in principle, I'd boycott them anyway!

Re: RyanAir - Cheaper (sic) flights

without cousin Michael you'd be going nowhere for that price!

Baggage charges are always included in your fares somewhere, people just kick up when they're listed separately. Look at it this way - if you have no bags to check in, you get it cheaper, instead of paying the same as the crowd with the kitchen sink and lounge suite in their checked bags.

Eurbanjo
where would the dog have to sit then, could he sit with the four men or does he have to sit on his todd somewhere else?

WarningDon't hide your Concertina in an Urn!

Urn lost on RyanAir flight is returned to widow!

THE cremated remains of a man which went missing on a Ryanair flight from Cork to Gatwick have been returned to his family.

Nice one, Wounded Huzzar - (nice tune as well)
Cheaper fairs (sic) on BryanAir - I suppose it's swings and roundabouts?

BrianAir website today -
"As a result of these restrictions - extra seats cannot be purchased for the carriage of musical instruments, wedding dresses etc "

The dress never suited you anyway Geoff

Re: RyanAir - Cheaper (sic) flights

Presumably, the wedding dress would be allowed if it was beeing worn at the time. BTW, Geoff, what's your size?

Re: RyanAir - Cheaper (sic) flights

Another thought, then. Could someone produce a wearable concertina, maybe like a hat? You could claim it was religious or something - the "Church of the Concertina" and the 5th amendment (or something Euro-speak) as your divine right to wear it.

Re: RyanAir - Cheaper (sic) flights

A few days ago my daughter and her two little girls (1 and 2-1/2 years old) flew from Brussels to Bristol to stay with us for a few days. They flew back to Brussels from Bristol International Airport yesterday.
I've received an email from my daughter describing what happened at the security check-in at Bristol Airport. The older child was required to have her sandals taken off for a security check, and reacted in the only way she could - a screaming tantrum, as only a 2-year old can do. Good for her, I say!
