Hello folks, been a long time since Ive posted anything in here. I came across this video of a Concertina and Guitar playing together. I just love this little tune. Does anyone know what the name of it is??
Hey Ani, if you enjoy the sound of the Concertina & Guitar, you should try this video clip of a session in Crotty's pub (Kilrush, Co. Clare). You can't see much but the music is good:
Re: Brilliant Concertina LINK! Definitely one to bookmark!
Many thanks to Tom Ryan, over at ‘Concertina.net’, for bringing this to my attention:
“There's a 30 minute program about Mícheál Ó Raghallaigh on TG4, the Irish-language network of RTE. You can get it streamed if you go to http://www.tg4.tv/default.aspx and look for the menus on the left of the screen. Click "Cláir Eile - Cartlann" and go to the program Ceird an Cheoil for the date 12/07/2006.
There's lots of good playing and shots of him reconditioning an old Jeffries, etc.
It's mostly in Irish, but there are subtitles in English.
There's also some footage of Stephen Chambers discussing (in English) the history of the Anglo in Irish music, with special reference to William Mullally.
Hunting around the various programs will also lead you to some good music (non-concertina). You should also click the menu, "Ceol - Cartlann" to access further programs about Irish music and song.”
So not only a brilliant 30 min prog on ye olde - 'Constant Screamer' but loads more besides.

Re: Concertina Tune
It's "Judy and Jim's wedding," by Larry Unger, a pretty tune for sure. Unger is an American musician/composer popular in the contra dance scene.

Re: Concertina Tune
its definitely not Padraig Rynne, but it could be Timmy Collins!

Re: Concertina Tune
in fact, im almost sure it is Timmy, I think you can see his face at the start when he's saying the tune key!

Re: Concertina Tune
Yes, just heard back from Tim & he has confessed! Tis indeed he!
He said if he'd known he was going to be filmed, he'd have practiced!
I think us lesser mortals would be only too delighted to sound like that though!
Thanks Tim.
