Mago de Oz

Mago de Oz

I stumbled upon these videos today (honest, they were just sitting there and I didn't see them!). They're an interesting fusion of traditional Irish elements and, well, whatever they were fused with. Weird, but fun, especially on this HOT day:

Hey Boston, Milwaukee, Chicago and points north -- we feel for ya! Go hang out in a cool air conditioned pub.

I used to like that band before I ever discovered ITM, they have some good songs. Listen to Fiesta Pagana.

Re: Mago de Oz

I'm not sure their elements are treditional irish, I think they draw that part of ther music from the galician tradition (north-western Spain) , which is sort of similar to irish as it is also celtic. Ever heard the Chieftains album "Santiago"?
There is also a great galician band called Luar na Lubre, the're a bit more trad.

Re: Mago de Oz

Mago de Oz is Folk Metal. Their folk influences are mostly Irish.
Luar na lubre is an excellent band, they play galician folk mostly but with a lot of irish flavor and irish songs actually.
I like about 4 songs from Mago de Oz, the rest of them are just the same :P
