Re: Looking for Trad Irish Bands in Seattle Area to Play at Wedding
I'm not a Seattle native, so I can't help you personally. However, I would recommend scouring this sight for local sessions in the city. If you don't turn up much, try the phonebook as well, calling a few places to see if they have sessions and when. I would recommend going to these sessions and making your inquiries. More frequently than you would think bands are formed out of long standing session groups, and you might get quite a nice stroke of fortune. I've seen the same method work several times before.

You can also visit and/or call around to some of the local pubs to see which groups they could recommend (locally). There's also the local music union, if that's a factor in Seattle. Sometimes, there are concerned musicians who set up web sites for the purposes of advertising groups -- both those for hire as well as for folks with needs such as yours (St. Louis has one such site that serves the local metro area).

You are lucky enough to have the Johnny Connolly Band in your area. Johnny has a CD out, "Bridgetown", (which you can download or sample from itunes), and another coming out soon. I believe you can contact him through Myspace.com. Great trad music and really pro. Also, check out the Irish pub music scene, as I'm sure there are bands/musicians that play regularly at pubs, or at least for St. Pat's day, and will get together for a wedding as well. You can also try the nearest CCE branch, I believe there is one in Vancouver, and they will know who to recommend.

I can back The Phantom's recommendation 100% as I know Dale and Tommy to be very professional and lots of fun. You'd look a long time for anyone better.

Looking for Trad Irish Bands in Seattle Area to Play at Wedding
The wedding isn't until July 7th, 2007 but it would be a dream come true, for me and my fiance David, if an Irish band were to play at our reception.
If you know of anyone or are someone who would be willing to play we will have kegs of Guiness at our disposal!

Thank you!

One of the best Irish trad bands in Seattle features, Dale Russ, Finn McGinty, and Tom Creegan. Here's their website: http://www.crumac.com

Crumac would certainly be my choice...and they do play weddings.
