Just received word from Clare that Cissy (Johanna) Crehan, nee Walsh, widow of Junior Crehan, passed away earlier today. She is survived by daughters Angela (Crotty), Ita and Margaret Crehan and son Pat.
Cissy can be heard singing on the just-released recording, "The Last House in Ballymakea," a compilation of Junior's music by his daughter, Ita, released at the Willie Clancy Summer School.
R.I.P.
God bless you Cissy, thank you for the dance and the laughter and the tea and the good home cooking... Put me down on your dance card, if I'm lucky enough to make it to that visiting house, if I manage to knock some of the rough off and temper the attitude more toward consideration of others...
Cissy, you are fine on so many points ~ dancer, musician, singer, mother, wife, etc... ~ and generous...all that 'tradition' means to me...
Cissy Crehan, RIP
