Amazing slow downer (ronimusic.com) linked with itunes
I generally use the slowdowner with CD's inserted. I've just discovered how easy it is to drag tracks from itunes (that have been downloaded) into the slowdowner. Thus being able to put sets together. This way it's not necessary to insert a CD and I can easily put a group of tracks together to practice with.
Re: Amazing slow downer (ronimusic.com) linked with itunes
Someone else mentioned that software to me a few weeks ago. Anybody know of an equivilant that runs in Linux? I don't have a Mac and use Windows only under duress. <g>
Re: Amazing slow downer (ronimusic.com) linked with itunes
As a linux user myself, I'd recommend the program Audacity. Just open up the music file and highlight the selection that you want to slow down (or select-all if you want to slow down/speed up the whole track). Go to "Effects" --> "Change tempo" (which changes the speed w/out changing the pitch... "Change speed" will also affect the pitch).
Audacity is also useful for many other purposes (for example, it can be used it to record RealAudio and other streams for future listening...or for trimming extra nonsense out of recordings... or for isolating specific tunes from a session-length recording).

Also checkout "Transcribe!", I've been using it for years and find it to be a great tool for learning tunes, treats pitch and speed as completely independent properties, allows setting of markers, exporting of altered tunes, EQ for isolating instruments, etc.

Don't forget that using windows media player you can now slow down any track.
I'm sure this has come up before, but wouldn't it be worth having a FAQ section or something, because people have answered this question quite a few times now (slowing down music).
Re: Amazing slow downer (ronimusic.com) linked with itunes
for mac users, open the file in quick time (click on the track, Command-R to show the file, then right click -> open with quick time). If you then do Command-K you not only get speed options but also trasposition.

I use pacemaker for winamp, simple, effective, easy to reset and not hard on your computer.
